Henry Barlow  Carter - Staithes
Henry Barlow Carter (1803 - 1868)

Scarborough marine and coastal painter, working mainly in watercolour. He left
Plymouth and the Navy in about 1830 to take up a teaching post in Hull. He later
moved to Scarborough, where he lived for some thirty years and taught
watercolour painting in the town. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and
elsewhere.
